Its expensive but less expensive than digging! As far as camera inspections go A camera will not see anything in a clogged pipe. Its only function is to locate where the camera stops and cannot do any further. Essentially a dig here for starters, extent needed is unknown.
If the line can be cleared the camera becomes a very valuable tool that allows the entire line to be inspected and the full extent of repairs needed as well as the exact location of all work needed. You will know if the whole line needs replacement or just a spot repair is needed. Also knowing the location makes digging up the spot as easy as it can be. It's called working smarter not harder! Some companies may offer to camera a line for free. Bear in mind nothing is free.
They may look and identify the problem and location but they will not leave you with enough useful information to obtain quotes from anyone else. I would want a copy of the inspection on tape or DVD.
Witness the inspection and recording. I would also want the location of the line marked at intervals to its termination with depth. I would want any changes in direction marked as well as any defects marked with the depth.
If they will not do this work You shouldn't pay as they are not providing the information you need to obtain bids for the work. As for watching the inspection. This is not rocket science!
What you see is what you got! The drain pipe should be smooth round and dry unless water is running down it. If the camera goes under water then back up out of water that is a belly or sag. A belly is a problem as well as any rough areas you see. You want your pipe to be like one of those fun rides at the water park.

Mud is hiding out an island in the Mississippi River awaiting the arrival of his beloved Juniper. The story has elements of drama, thriller, and romance.
While the film is slightly too long and the story has a few unnecessary and distracting subplots, its overall eloquence and is absorbing. So like the Mississippi, the story meanders a little too much. The River setting becomes a character in the film that shapes the drama playing out along it. The two teenage actors are excellent, but the film is tour-de-force for McConaughey who is its heart and soul.
